RELIGIOUS LITERACY
As a child, I vaguely remember listening to adults talk and sometimes argue about whose religion was the “true religion.” This was in New Jersey in the 1960s, and no one ever got too loud but there were clearly differences of opinion being expressed.

After the September 11th attacks I remember hearing from a college friend whose family members were practicing Sikhs. She was relating the painful reality of her brothers suddenly being harassed and threatened in public.

One of the most troubling emotions we deal with as a society is fear. Fear of the unknown, the undiscovered or the not understood threatens the freedom that our forefathers envisioned for us and for this great nation.

To say we’re living in turbulent times would be understating it. We’re all drowning in a sea of information that comes seeping in from every digital corner and most of us are just trying to keep our heads above water.
