Scientologists have been fighting for religious freedom since our Church was founded in 1954.
In the firm belief that this freedom is a fundamental right—and that all human rights must be vigorously defended—Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote the Code of a Scientologist more than half a century ago. As part of that code, each Scientologist pledges “To support the freedom of religion” for the “good of all.”
It is why, wherever Scientologists have fought to defend their own religious rights—whether taking to the streets of Portland, Oregon, or Berlin, Germany—they have fought on behalf of all people.
As a result, the precedent-setting victories Scientologists have secured across the globe in the name of religious freedom have provided protection on behalf of, and helped guarantee freedom for, members of every faith.
Today the right to freedom of religion or belief is under assault throughout the world. Scientologists consider it their duty to defend this fundamental human right. And we believe doing so is more important now than ever.
