Scientologists champion the same free speech that guarantees them, and all people, the right to practice their religion and speak out against inequity. We believe in open and honest dialogue and freedom of thought and expression as fundamental human rights.

There is, however, a distinction. In the words of L. Ron Hubbard, “Freedom for Man does not mean freedom to injure Man. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom to harm by lies.”

Like many minority communities, we know too well how hate speech inspires, and ends in, violence.

While advocating for freedom, Scientologists forcefully condemn bigotry and hate.
