I have never met Queen Elizabeth II, but I won’t lie her death has broken me. By being such a relentless source of inspiration, acceptance, and an object of pride, the Queen became a guiding compass to people of all faiths in the UK and across the Commonwealth.

Beliefs are not simply reserved for times it’s convenient or easy.

On Religious Freedom Day, I am profoundly grateful to live in a country where I can freely express my own beliefs as a member of a minority religion.
INCLUSION & RESPECT
The idea that every group, every religion, every individual can come together and contribute to their community by putting the needs of the entire community first is, for me, what America is all about.
TOLERANCE
As we work our way through interfaith gatherings we focus on similarities, knowing that others will be hollering the differences from the rooftops.
COMBATING BIGOTRY & HATE
Achievements in science, peace, brotherhood, religion, the arts—those things which bring us together—are conspicuous in their non-memorialization.

This month we are reminded of the importance of Hispanics, how far they and we have progressed from the dark days of Columbus and the conquistadors. We are reminded that enough is indeed enough and that the time is now to learn from their cultures, their experience and their history—for by learning about them, we can’t help but learn more about ourselves.
