On January 15, STAND League published an exposé on anti-Scientologist Alex Barnes-Ross’ history of stalking and harassing a young woman before being dismissed from Church staff.
The article detailed how, after pleading to volunteer at the London Church of Scientology, Alex Barnes-Ross initiated a campaign of harassment against a young woman there, who he stated he had “very, very, very, extremely strong feelings for” that he could not control.
“Alex continued to engage in behaviour that made me extremely uncomfortable,” she described, “always trying to get physically closer” and “linger[ing] far longer than necessary, often with this glazed, Cheshire cat-like grin.… I felt like a sitting duck and like I couldn’t escape him.”
As his first victim described, Barnes-Ross was “always trying to get physically closer.”
Confirming he knew of the young woman’s lack of interest, but harassed her with unwanted sexual attention all the same, Barnes-Ross texted her: “The whole time I’ve known you don’t like me, but I’ve just always clinged on to the hope, however small, that you’d just at least give me a chance.… I just don’t know what to do or how to carry on.… It’s something that’s really ruining my life right now.”
How did Barnes-Ross respond to the January 15 revelations?
By stalking another female Scientologist—less than two weeks later.
On January 27, at 8:37 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time, Barnes-Ross proudly published photographic evidence of his relentless harassment—this time seeking out another female Scientologist at a public meeting to invade her space. (As his first victim described, Barnes-Ross was “always trying to get physically closer.”) Barnes-Ross then posted to social media a picture of him next to the woman, drew a heart around the two of them, captioned the image “xoxo,” and took to YouTube to describe how harassing her was the “highlight of my evening, highlight of my year.”
At 1:53 p.m. on January 28, the following day, Barnes-Ross took to X (Twitter) to thank the woman for giving him “content.” “I consider it truly an honour to have had the chance to sit next to you for a whole hour,” he posted, ostensibly addressing the woman. Barnes-Ross ended his message by employing the royal “we” to profess his love: “We love you,” he wrote.
While his purpose in stalking the first young woman was for romance, in the case of his more recent stalking efforts, his intention was far more sinister: Barnes-Ross has since turned into a disturbed anti-Scientology bigot and hate speech propagator who harasses members of the religion for profit.
Barnes-Ross continues to demonstrate—even flaunt—that he is a dangerous predator who will stop at nothing because of his “very, very, very, extremely strong feelings” he admits he cannot control.
