I Grew Up Methodist. Now I’m a Scientologist. Here’s What Christmas Means to Me.

I grew up in the Methodist church. I have many fond memories of going to Sunday school and regular services on Sunday mornings, and especially of the potluck dinners where every member of the congregation brought their absolute best dish to share.

But my favorite service, by far, was always Christmas Eve. The church would be gorgeously festooned with holiday decorations and candles in every direction. And the service was mostly music, my favorite art form and, in my opinion, the most sincere expression of the divine. The feeling of community and brotherhood was palpable and made me feel safe and cared for as a child.

Now this time of year still represents hope, renewal and love for me, but it’s also a reminder of the joy I experience every time I’m able to help another person.

I loved the feeling of renewal and hope and fresh beginnings that the birth of Jesus represented to me, the idea that love was the most powerful force that exists and that kindness and understanding and compassion were the best way to solve any problem life might send your way.

After more than two decades as a Scientologist, my study and application of our unique technology has amplified and fortified that feeling of hope with tools and solutions that allow me to make the world around me better day to day, moment to moment. I’m able to take all those hopeful feelings and turn them into actions that allow me to reflect, on a small scale, the universal and divine love that Jesus represents to billions of people around the world. I am able to be the change I want to see in the world because I understand people, life and the conditions we find ourselves in, thanks to my study and application of Scientology.

Now this time of year still represents hope, renewal and love for me, but it’s also a reminder of the joy I experience every time I’m able to help another person. Whether it’s encouraging and rewarding my employees for the stellar creative work they do, or donating to causes I believe in, or introducing a young person to their inalienable human rights through my nonprofit, all of these things are made possible because of my involvement with Scientology.

We live in exciting and invigorating times and people are searching for real solutions to the problems they face. I am grateful and humbled to be blessed with so many real solutions, and I’ve never felt more strongly that the future for all mankind and people of every faith is brighter than ever before.

To all my friends and family and every person of goodwill around the world, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and may this new year be the best you’ve ever had!
