Many Muslims, for example, put forth the idea that science and Islam are compatible in most ways but acknowledged a conflict when it came to the theory of evolution—a conflict shared with many members of the other Abrahamic faiths, Judaism and Christianity, which hold in common with Islam the belief that God spontaneously created the Earth and Adam and Eve.

A study released Monday which surveyed 3,486 college students from 122 campuses across the U.S. found students devoted significant time to learning about those of other races, political affiliations and sexual orientations, but very little about people from other faiths.

London-born rap artist Stormzy, who has made no secret of his faith and has expressed it in his music, will receive Sandford St. Martin’s prestigious Trustees’ Award, which honors superlative broadcasting around faith and ethics.

The numbers are most telling among those who consider themselves religious, with 56 percent of those affiliated with historically black Protestant churches saying their faith has been strengthened by the pandemic, followed by 42 percent of evangelicals. Catholics and Protestants follow at 27 percent and 22 percent respectively.

A nationwide survey of 6,364 U.S. adults confirmed that the majority of Americans value churches and religious organizations . According to the poll by the Pew Research Center, 55 percent believe that churches and religious organizations “do more good than harm in American society.
