Dear Ray,
I started reading your “Under-Appreciated Kirstie Alley Deserves Better” with interest, happy to learn about the earlier shows and roles of an actress I have always appreciated. Then I hit the point where you out of the blue start trashing the Scientology religion, spouting all manner of Internet rumor and just plain b.s. as if it’s true! What’s that about? Where does that come from??
Have you ever visited a Scientology Church? Have you ever spoken to a Scientologist? Do you have any foundation for your unbelievably bigoted statements? I am still in shock.
Kirstie Alley, even according to you, is a fine actress and woman of immense courage and integrity who loves life and loves people.
Leah Remini on the other hand is a coward without sincerity or integrity now trying to make a name and a living out of inventing fiction about her former friends and her former religion.
On Remini’s show last night I saw interviews of two mothers whose children took their own lives. It was heartbreaking and unbelievable to me that even Leah Remini could be callous enough to cause so much pain. And the mothers themselves were aghast that their personal family tragedies were so grossly exploited—all for ratings and profit apparently. And out of sheer evil and malice, I would add. I am sure you see just how repulsive such A&E/Remini actions are.
I also want to point out that this isn’t some unimportant game they are playing, and that you are supporting. Remini’s hate campaign has instigated over 500 hate threats, murder threats and bomb threats against Scientologists and our churches. Several of those who made violent threats or actually carried them out specifically named Leah Remini as their “inspiration.” Three have been convicted of felony crimes. More are under investigation. I call that serious.
So Ray, when you casually and irresponsibly speak ill of Scientology, and post it on the Internet, you are supporting not just ridicule but furthering misunderstandings and intolerance toward a new religion, making a rational society even harder to attain in a world already riddled with hatred. You join the mad dog press when you print words such as yours.
I have been a Scientologist for more than 40 years. I know what I am talking about. You do not. I ask you to actually look, to actually FIND OUT what you are writing about and not just mindlessly accept the lies and gossip planted by the evilly motivated.
You may want to start by looking at scientologyreligion.org.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Blair
