Dear Sir;
It has come to my attention that a group of Scientology apostates are going to appear on 20/20 with a show intentionally designed to attack and create hate toward the religion she was formerly a member of. I believe the source of this is Leah Remini and her show on A&E.
I worked with Leah on and off for a few years when she was supporting a forming Church of Scientology in the Black and Latino community. At times, I noticed a ‘dark sarcasm’ from her that kind of stuck out as a personality trait.
I was a trained elementary school teacher prior to becoming a Scientologist and I was aware of a small minority of teachers who were rude, demeaning or sarcastic toward their students and it was always a ‘red flag’ for me when I observed this which in these days would be called ‘bullying’.
When I entered Scientology, in 1972, one of the first things I noticed was that children were treated with much more respect and care by everyone. They were treated as Mr. Hubbard has written in many different books and materials.
Over these last 45 years I have seen many children in Scientology Organizations either with their parents or actually studying Scientology courses and receiving (with their parent’s permission) spiritual counseling or auditing.
NEVER in all of these years have I seen children (or adults for that matter) subject to sexually explicit bullbaiting or anything remotely close to that and I’ve studied at churches in New York, Los Angeles and Clearwater, Florida.
My husband and I have raised all 3 of our now married daughters, as Scientologists.
None of them had unplanned pregnancies or drug use of any kind, or DUIs or some of the other problems that are pretty common these days with young teens and even kids younger than teenagers.
Sincerely,
Caralyn Percy
