Mr. Ben Sherwood
President Disney-ABC Television Group
Dear Mr. Sherwood,
I have learned that despite crashed ratings, the withdrawal of advertisers and many appeals to the sense of decency of those responsible, A&E is considering a third season of Leah Remini’s “Aftermath” show.
Further, those who create the program are considering expanding the show to include other minority religions as targets that they believe it is acceptable to hate.
Disney needs to recognize that the bigotry of this program adds about as much to the public understanding of Scientology, and religion in general, as a Ku Klux Klan rally adds to racial harmony. Further, it needs to act accordingly by demanding that the responsible executives, Nancy Dubuc and Paul Buccieri, resign.
A free society without a strong base of tolerance and respect will dissolve into mobs which continually battle each other. Freedom of the press must be exercised by a media which recognizes that fact and at the very least does not act as a conduit for hate.
Sincerely,
Jeff Murphy
