Dear Editor,
I read with great dismay the arrogance with which Trevin Wax addressed my religion, Scientology, in his recent piece about C.S. Lewis’s wife Joy Davidman. I think that neither C.S. Lewis nor Ms. Davidman would agree with nor condone the petty slights the author sought to inflict with his ignorant and bigoted words.
Whether your author knew it or not, Joy Davidman was a genius, a literary and musical prodigy who Clive Lewis, an Oxford don, considered his academic equal. So for Mr. Wax to condescendingly criticize Ms. Davidman for using Dianetics in its early days, as many did, shows me how unChristian this author is in the lack of interest with which he approaches others.
Should I now condemn the entire Christian faith because of the unChristian address received from one of its followers? How petty and small-minded that would be.
There is more than enough hatred, defilement and bigotry in our world today without your publication adding needlessly to it.
Please curb these slights against my religion—and anyone else’s for that matter. No one needs it. And one day hence you may even need our help so I suggest you curtail the disrespect.
This link gives the true story of Scientology.
Sincerely,
