Forbes, You Should Uphold Religion, Not Seek to Strike It Down

You should respect religions—whether yours or not—and do what you can to uplift them with your keyboard. After all, religions endow the spiritual quality to life, and God knows we need it.

Mr. Di Placido,

I read your recent review of Tom Cruise’s “Mission Impossible” and frankly agreed with all of it until arriving at the point where you cast aspersions on his and my religion: Scientology. What a waste.

Disdaining another’s religion is just so passé and out of sync with modern standards.

Would you do this to George Clooney because he is a Catholic?

Would you trash the late Muhammad Ali because he was a Muslim? Yes, of course bigots of his era did.

Or would you disdain Deepak Chopra because he was born a Hindu?

So that you comprehend our view, seeking to hold another’s religion, any religion, in contempt is disgusting.

Doing so has no place in our society. Really, you should respect religions—whether yours or not—and do what you can to uplift them with your computer keyboard. After all, religions endow spiritual quality to life, and God knows we need it.

Sincerely,

Philippe Ped
