Dear Mr. McCarthy,
Leah Remini’s awful show was cancelled before the season even ended. So why on earth is the Broadcast Television Journalist’s Association giving her an “Impact” Award?
For promoting bigotry and violence against people of the Scientology religion? Great, then let’s give Impact Awards to Nazis and terrorists, if that’s all it takes these days.
This whole sham reeks of A&E trying to save face after their sick little pet project ratings went down the tubes. First of all, the awarding committee included a co-producer of the Remini series.
Remini’s show, which incited multiple hate crimes against the Church of Scientology, was deservedly cancelled when viewers tuned out en masse and its ratings tanked.
It was so bad, apparently, that the BTJA had to fabricate an award for them. The Impact Award that Remini won had no other nominees, was not a previously recognized award category, and obviously involved no “choice” at all. The whole thing is completely half-assed and Remini deserves zero praise.
Here are a few facts about Leah Remini’s actual “impact.”
I’ll let the advertisers decide whether they want to align themselves with bigots and murderers and fund a show that praises someone like this.
