Disney Asked to Take Action Against Discrimination Toward the Scientology Religion

Why is it acceptable to support and promote a documentary which is born entirely from hate and directed at my friends, my family, me? Does someone really have to die before religious bigotry against Scientology is taken seriously?

Dear Mr. Sherwood,

I am a 23-year-old and have grown up as a Scientologist and never have I felt so attacked or judged as since Leah Remini went on her anti-Scientology spree. I sat for a haircut and during the conversation mentioned that I’m a Scientologist. My barber said, “Oh my god, what about all that stuff Leah Remini has said? I just watched the documentary.”

The Church I have gone to my whole life, where my baby sister and brother play, was physically attacked. A woman drove her car over the curb and crashed directly into the front glass wall of the building, pulling in 20 feet. This was at 9 o’clock on a weeknight. There were families and children throughout the building. Luckily no one was hurt or killed.

I looked up the perpetrator and found the woman who did it on Facebook. She seemed pretty typical. She shared petitions to be signed for whatever cause she had picked. Then I saw Leah Remini’s book Troublemaker on her site, a video accusing Scientology of doing things it does not do.

This woman was driven to attack and harm a group she had had no interaction with, none, zero. She destroyed a glass wall of a room reserved for children to play in, sending glass flying to the far wall. Then pulled away and drove off. What person in their right mind would do that to someone or people they had never met or known?

In the world we live in today, we are constantly trying to protect each other. When more and more groups and subgroups are supported and protected, why not my religion, Scientology? Why is it acceptable to support and promote a documentary which is born entirely from hate and directed at my friends, my family, me? Does someone really have to die before religious bigotry against Scientology is taken seriously?

If Leah Remini’s show was attacking African-Americans, transgender high school students, Muslim immigrants, would she be getting your support then? I seriously doubt it. Then why do you allow it against my Church?
