As a Scientologist, I have seen Scientology do too much good and change too many lives dramatically for the better to stand by while a systematic effort to denigrate it is allowed to pass itself off as information.

Dear Sir:
I am both outraged and incredulous to learn that Leah Remini’s series on Scientology was nominated for an Emmy as an “informational” series. Remini has made no secret about her anti-Scientology agenda or that she has an axe to grind against the Church. It appears that in these incendiary times where dueling accusations of “fake news” fill the air, the distinction between actual information and the vindictive propaganda put out by Remini and people of her ilk has become blurred to the point that it is no longer visible, at least to the people responsible for the nomination process. That disturbs me both as an American citizen and a long-term Scientologist.
As an American citizen, I know that for democracy to function, citizens need to be able to differentiate between actual facts versus lies and distortions intended to forward a hidden agenda. As a Scientologist, I have seen Scientology do too much good and change too many lives dramatically for the better to stand by while a systematic effort to denigrate it is allowed to pass itself off as information.
I am asking that you reconsider airing any further shows in favor of programming that is worthy of being called information.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Murphy
