The Truth About Scientology is Far More Interesting

Dear Chris,

I read your “Favorite Author Interviews” article. While I can wholly appreciate your first selection of the children’s book written by the two courageous Boston Marathon survivors, I do take offense at the second. As a 44-year Scientologist, including the entire time through which Ms. Hall claims membership, nothing of what she says rings true. Regardless, the fact remains that she left the Church and it was her decision to do so and she did. She must now live with it.

Yet she finds it necessary to complain about a membership she terminated three decades earlier.

What you ignore are the number of Scientologists who practice their religion daily, carrying out good works in their respective communities, raising productive families and donating their talents and skills in a selfless and beneficial way. Somehow, this vast majority of Scientologists escape your gaze, so you present a corrupted and bigoted reflection of the only religion to emerge in the 20th century that not only survives into the 21st but is expanding and flourishing at an incredible rate. That it does so is no mystery to those familiar with the Church of Scientology, its members and its community contributions and partnerships.

Your article is a perfect example of why a large number of today’s reading public no longer believe the media—as they simply too often present the world in a highly distorted way and can longer be trusted.

I recommend that you take time to watch Scientology.tv and find out what Scientologists really do. Through hundreds of hours of footage from all over the world you will gain the true sense of Scientology.
