Judge Michael Stern of Los Angeles Superior Court has ordered unemployed anti-Scientologist Yashar Ali Hedayat to forfeit all future income to cover the $232,769 he owes Ariadne Getty.
Ali promised to pay Getty back $500 per month after borrowing $179,000 over the years. Instead, he made two payments, then defaulted on the loan, prompting Getty to sue in 2017. In 2019, a judgment was entered against Ali for $176,724 but, according to an April motion, the sum remains “fully unpaid.” Interest has now raised it by over $50,000.
Judge Stern’s ruling followed a minute-long hearing during which Ali’s attorney made no objection.
Twitter followers have frequently demanded to know what is wrong with Ali, telling him to “calm the f down,” “stop it” and “get a grip.”
The debt collector pursuing the unpaid loan told the LA Times that Ali was “more difficult than average” to track down. According to court papers, he has “no known local bank accounts” or property.
Ali, who describes himself as “obsessed with Scientology,” spends his days on Twitter stalking and harassing Scientologists, making comments such as “I am committed to the destruction of Scientology no matter what.”
After describing his anti-Scientology rants as “deranged,” “insane” and “ridiculous,” Twitter followers have frequently demanded to know what is wrong with Ali, telling him to “calm the f down,” “stop it” and “get a grip.”
Ali has lost tens of thousands of followers on Twitter since being exposed in a Los Angeles Magazine profile as a toxic, exploitive personality who took advantage of successful women whose trust he gained—women like Ariadne Getty.
In June of 2022, Ali sued LA Magazine for defamation, but in May 2023, a judge ordered Ali to pay $39,710 for the magazine’s legal fees.
