To date, STAND has documented upwards of 650 instances of hate speech, outright lies and discriminatory content by American Media Inc. (AMI), owner of such tabloids as the National Enquirer, In Touch, Us Weekly and OK!
Long notorious for its fabricated and divisive material and for furnishing a platform for hate speech, AMI, now A360 Media, has been forced to issue retractions listing a full paragraph of lies it published, followed by “none of these statements were true.”
“I do not know how these people can sleep at night,” said playwright David Bar Katz, who filed a lawsuit against the National Enquirer for “seeking to make a buck through putrid lies,” fabricating that he and a recently deceased actor were lovers while the actor’s family grieved.
“Now is the time to unite rather than divide,” said National STAND Director Bari Berger. “We do not believe any group or individual should be unfairly targeted with lies and hate, which is precisely what American Media Inc. and executive editor Dan Dolan have been doing for years—demonstrating that the American values of diversity, equity and inclusion are not theirs.”
STAND is calling for any individual or group who has been marginalized or victimized by A360 Media (AMI) to report details to info@standleague.org.
“It’s time for the lies and the hate to stop,” said Berger.
