Seventy-four years ago today, more than 7,000 prisoners were liberated from Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
As these once-again free people poured through the gates and returned to the world, they could not forget the 1.1 million who had already lost their lives within. Or the more than six million others killed elsewhere.
STAND wishes to remember with them, and honor the fallen, honor those who survived, honor their families and children, and honor any and all who work to ensure that the world never forgets the horrors that hate and ignorance breed. It is only through that painful remembering we can ensure humanity never bears witness to such tragedy again.
“If we make it a custom to remember—not just on Holocaust Remembrance Day but every day of the year,” said International STAND Director, Edward Parkin, “we can safeguard the people of this world and ensure no group can once more wreak such havoc on Mankind.”
