He paid for it by spending the rest of his days carrying other people’s bags as a harbor porter—a life sentence of back-breaking labor as the reward for a man with a heart of gold who deserved the world.

Last October, eleven worshippers at the at Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania were murdered during Shabbat morning services by a man whose only knowledge of his victims was that they were Jewish. And he hated Jews. [i] It was the worst anti-Semitic attack in American history.
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Some people see freedom as dangerous. They see people who cannot be enslaved as dangerous. They are the type who think that if people were free, those people would be as mean and cruel as they themselves are.

One would think, in this new epoch of hyper-sensitivity, that casual slurs about a stranger’s religion would be “so last century.” Not so much. I’m an actor, and a big part of my life is auditioning for casting directors in the LA area.

Bricks through windows, swastikas scrawled on synagogues, charred African-American churches, knocked-over tombstones in Jewish cemeteries, beaten and slaughtered minorities—these are all the debris of hate crimes, the products of bigotry, and are repulsive to any decent. person.

Cultures rise and fall, governments come and go, but religion remains a constant influence. Under all the verbiage of such things as laws and governments lie spiritual motivations and goals.

When a reporter takes on the subject of (someone else’s) religion, he or she does not usually understand what he or she is reporting on, or is relying on biased/slanted data and ignoring the sensibilities of their intended audience.
